OUYA is an open, free-to-play game console that upends the console market by putting the power back in the hands of devs and gamers. OUYA offers every game free to try because we believe you shouldn’t buy anything until you know you love it.

We love playing games on the TV and we want to bring the most creative, innovative and engaging games back to the TV by allowing any developer—big or small, experienced or new, paparazzi-famous or up-and-coming—to easily build games for the big screen. Your favorite and soon-to-be-favorite games in 1080p—what’s not to love?

I think the concept here was actually ahead of it’s time and still do think it’s ahead of it’s time. Maybe in 5 years it will make more sense when the generation of kids who grew up as mainly mobile gamers it will resonate with along with the concept of digital ownership of games and of course if cloud becomes more accepted by gamers over a longer period of time. I think the idea of being able to play mobile games on TV makes more sense the more powerful flagship phones get. As much of a failure as this was and as much as it’s mocked I think it was a smart idea with the wrong execution and being shortsighted perhaps the kickstarter pressure added to that. I think a more powerful console taking into consideration several generations of mobile technology would make more sense. The budget target held it back technologically and working on hardware with such a tight budget didn’t give it much wiggle room. I think this concept may eventually be tried again or pushed along with boxes like Apple TV and Apple Arcade so it’s bundled with other services. In any case it’s an interesting part of gaming history and if nothing else there’s a lot that can be learned from its failure on the market. I don’t think Ouya itself will come back because the name is tarnished but I would not be surprised if another player in the market tried rolling out this general concept, expanded on it, and marketed it to a newer/younger market that it could be a success. As mobile games take over more of the gaming market and phones get more and more powerful along with technology like cloud saves this could make for something like what the Nintendo Switch does currently without having to be tethered to one particular device model.

You were fools to think you could beat Microsoft, Sony, Valve and Nintendo.

The ouya sucks ass! It’s probably a better use of money to buy a ps1 or ps2

Nobody gonna talk about how awkward her facial expressions are when talking to the camera. She doesn't even look into the camera

If the official promotional video is better made than the actual game, then something is wrong.

Should’ve advertised it as a Raspberry Pi, that would honestly make it way better in itself
