I need clarity regarding Equity crowdfunding investments and profit taking.
1)Scenario A: I purchased 100 shares at $7million valuation in 2019 on a startup company. Similarly in 2020, I purchased again on the same startup company with a valuation of $12 million at 2000 shares.
Now in 2021, the company got acquired. At a value of $3 billion. I intend to take profits. What’s the amount of my profits? Kindly let me have an input to this pls.

This is a topic not many cover so thanks for looking into it. Most of my investments are index funds and ETFs but I’m building a portfolio of startups using Crowdcube. I have stakes in Monzo and Nutmeg and a few others and I truly believe these companies will do well. As always, only invest what you feel comfortable and small amounts spread over many companies across several sectors is perhaps the best way for the long term investor. My equity crowdfunding holdings make up ~6% of my total portfolio right now but I want to get this up to 10% this year.

I like how you explain everything in detail and not assume we all know the meaning of investment vocabulary. Some of us are very new at investing and we need a little extra help.

Hi, if company x eventually goes IPO and becomes public, do the shares I own on the crowed-funding platform transfer to the stock exchange?

Hi guys, I enjoyed your tutorial – people definitely need to see those. In case you are also actively investing on Crowdcube and Seedrs, I do quick, in-depth analysis on some of the companies raising on these platforms on my channel. Most recently I analyzed the neo bank Zvilo (Seedrs) and the electric vehicle tyres startup ENSO (Crowdcube). I hope you check those out and they add value to your own decision making.

I've used both Crowdcube and Seedrs – they are pretty much a stab in the dark as you have to do all your own research. Last year Seedrs raised money for 250+ businesses. Very few will hit the big time. So that's at least 5 per week you have to research. That's a LOT of time and effort. Personally I prefer The Angel Business Club (which you've probably not heard of). They have only invested in 18 startups in the last 5 years and 3 have already listed on the stock market (http://www.theangelbusinessclub.com to give them a try). ABC remove all the hard work. You just pay a monthly subscription and receive shares every month. Set and forget (startup investing is long term). Keep up the great work on your channel, I've only just found you and it's top quality work!
