Crowdfunding isn’t easy, but when it succeeds, it can help games that might not get a second glance by a traditional publisher. It can even create more games for niche audiences and preferences.

I love an update on this!!!
HEH, a crowdfunded game that just don't do… Now i can't help thinking of Eternal Crusade
Most games I buy were crowd funded
I'm feeling tired, and now when I look at the screen, there's two Dans.
That is cool. Games are going the same route as other media. It is like how YouTube has changed film making. It is like how self publishing has changed writing books. It is like how Deviant Art has changed art. This is exciting. It is probably better to make a game now then making a game in any time in previous history. It would be great to apply the ideas in Extra Credits videos. I would like a game that does free to play right. There are some good videos about that on the Extra Credits channel. No more pay to win games! They suck!
6:07 Yes please make another Baldur’s gate! Please please please!
Did they do a follow-up episode for this?
The dev team of mighty number 9 shouldve seen this video after the flop of 2015
Not in a Million Years.
I'd be interested to see you guys do some sort of follow-up video to this, now that Kickstarter-funded games have been in the gaming spotlight quite a lot (for better and for worse) for a good few years now. I'd love to hear your thoughts on, what is the game crowfunding landscape like now? Where there things you were expecting that didn't happen? Big surprises? Or maybe you did do one of these follow-up videos recently and I just missed it.
Undying praise
It’s depressing to look back at this episode of and see how hopeful he is even though so many Kickstarters are terrible and never deliver
You know crowdfunding was very good and created much potential for quality games. Too bad Mighty No. 9 and other flops damaged crowdfunding's reputation beyond repair.
*cough*star citizen*cough @4:45
This vid is very dated and needs to be followed up on for relevance.
Crowdfunding also allows you to vastly underestimate how much a game costs to make, never ship it, and keep all the backers money.
You can also just sell the game to a publisher anyway… We happy few,…
Have they made a new video on this subject?
It already has failed m u l t i p l e t i m e s
….except crowdfunding only works if you are already well known or if you have a huge network.
Kickstarter only works when a low budget dev's only dream is to create a good game not to earn money . Look at Larian Studios they created the best RPGs ever with crowdfunding simply by trying to make the best possible game they can
