CEO: SyndicateRoom applying crowdfunding to public markets

SyndicateRoom is the first crowdfunding platform to allow its members to get involved in a wide spectrum of equity opportunities from early-stage crowdfunding rounds through to flotations and discounted placings.
Goncalo de Vasconcelos, chief executive, tells Proactive the firm has now completed the first AIM IPO, the first main market IPO and the first placing through a crowdfunding platform.
Most recently, the firm participated in Scancell Holding PLCS’s (LON:SCLP) successful £6.1mln share placing, marking the first time – via crowdfunding – that retail investors have been able to access an AIM company raise on the same terms as City institutions.
“We were the sole distributor for the retail side that means that individual investors could only invest in that placing via SyndicateRoom,” de Vasconcelos says.
