Anyone who thinks it’s possible to make a game like this from the ground up for $1M is an idiot. I’d budget a bare minimum of $20M. Any titles successfully “funded” like this are getting their money elsewhere and just using KS as an alternative source of advertising / pre-order.

Well welcome to the digital game world. As much as it sounds bad this is what you get. You will never win lawsuits against this because you do it out of your own even when you know that he could run away. Same on ps games and others if you buy then digital you pay for a license that you can play if the servers die etc. The digital gane wont be playable or the online part…. so as gamers the digital centery of games is a goos thing but also a bad thing and specially with crows funded games its things that bound to happen dont have to but 4/10 it happens
